My Perfect Night In

My Perfect Night In

Every once in a while it’s important not to make any plans. It’s nice to stay home, curl up in bed, and treat yourself to some TLC. At least once a week I do just that! In today’s post I’m going to walk you through some of my favorite tips, tricks and skincare for a perfect night in.

If I’m doing a night in right after I get back from work, the first thing I have to do is take off my make up. I’m one of those girls that loves taking off her make up after a long day as much as I love putting it on. Currently I’m using the Pacifica Kale Detox Cleanser and loves the way it leaves my skin feeling. It removes all the dirt and makeup without drying out or stripping my skin. Taking care of my skin is so important to me - especially since I’ve had bad skin in the past.

After a long day, I’ll usually spend a little extra time in the shower do everything: wash my hair, shave my legs, and use a body scrub. If I’ve had a particularly long or stressful day, doing this can make me feel like I’m washing the day or the whole week off. I’m not sure if it’s psychological or something but it definitely helps clear my mind and unwind.

As far as products go, I’ve still been loving my Love Beauty and Planet shampoo and conditioner combo. My hair comes out super soft, super nourished, and most importantly, not oily or weighed down. Every once in a while I’ll go the extra step and do a hair mask just to give my hair a little extra love.

I have a few different favorite body scrubs. The one I use for a more intense scrub (especially if I’m shaving my legs) is the Temecula Lavender Company Scrub. It’s got oils in it that help your legs (or anywhere else you use it) feel super soft and hydrated. The more affordable option and the one I use most days is the Dove body exfoliant. It’s a much gentler exfoliant and still leaves your skin super soft. After I’m done in the shower I make sure to moisturize my legs and put on my cutest little PJ set.

Since moving to California my normally oily skin has become very dry and I have to take extra steps to make sure I put that moisture back into my skin. Here are a few of my favorite ways. Firstly, I try to make sure I drink as much water as I can. It’s surprisingly really hard for me to remember to drink water nowadays so I always try to bring my water bottle with me whenever I can. Next - face masks! I’m a firm believer in investing in your skin and skincare is one of the things I believe in splurging on when you have the means. But for today, I’m going to be sharing my favorite masks from the drugstore that give me that spa feeling at home.

My favorite combo is the Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying sheet mask coupled with the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. I love the cooling, jelly feel of the Neutrogena mask and it’s only $2.50! They also have a clay version of this mask that’s also $2.50 that I love using for a more intense cleaning. I’ll usually leave it on for 20 minutes while I prep my bed area for the night This means lighting a candle, giving my self a mani-pedi, watching a quick YouTube Video, etc. Once the 20 minutes are up, I remove the mask and make sure to massage any excess liquids on my face and neck.

Once that’s all dried and my skin feels nice and clean and plump, I’ll take a bit of the Laneige Mask and put that on. It isn’t really so much a mask as it is an intense overnight moisturizer. If you don’t want to spend the $25 on the Laneige mask ( which comes in a tub you get multiple uses out of ) Neutrogena also has a Hydroboost sheet mask and it does more or less the same thing! Pacifica also has a lot of really great sheet masks and super pretty packaging for around $4 that are also a great option.

As far as what I do on a night in, I do a lot of things. Sometimes I love watching old Hollywood movies like Casablanca or Breakfast at Tiffany’s. There’s something so charming and so romantic about them that I love. Most of the time I’ll catch up on all the YouTube videos I miss. I love watching Game Grumps which is a gaming channel and they make me laugh which always picks me up. Some other channels I watch are Kathleen Lights, Tati Westbrooke, Elise Harbour, Minnie Small - which all vary from beauty, to vloggers, to art channels. I like having variety. I might even write a blog post or edit a video if I feel like being a bit productive that night.

I don’t always do this but sometimes I’ll have a glass of wine. Any time I drink wine I usually have the best nights sleep. I’m a very light sleeper and wine usually knocks me out the night and it’s amazing but I don’t like doing it all the time. If you’re not old enough to drink, don’t. I also enjoy a glass of chocolate milk or maybe a bit of ice cream or whatever else you like to indulge in. On a super rare occasion I’ll bake some chocolate chip cookies because, let’s face it, nothing beats fresh baked cookies.

That’s it. These are my favorite products and things to do on a night in. I love getting to take some time for myself and usually I’ll do it about twice a week. It leaves me feeling ready to take on the next day. Hopefully this inspired you to pick up some of these products and give yourself a little love this week. As always, leave your favorite products in the comments down below and I’ll see you in next week’s post!

Love Always,

The Honest Pisces
