Cross Country Shenanigans
I can’t believe our cross country trip is over by the time you’re reading this! I’ve never spent so much time in a car and - let me tell you - what an experience. While I’ve got a short travel vlog going up on the channel this weekend, I didn’t manage to film everything. We got busy visiting friends and, honestly, spending 7 hours in the car can get quite boring. Especially after Wyoming - there’s nothing after but rolling cornfields for the next three states!
Our first two stops were sort of out of the way but made the trip a lot more fun. First on the list was Tempe, Arizona. This was more of a sentimental stop. Edwin and I first started dating, Tempe was our place. We started dating there. We have lots of memories there! So we spent a night there before heading out to Las Vegas to see some of Edwin’s friends. It was so cool to finally see the Strip! While we didn’t get to do much gambling and drinking, it was cool to see all the iconic hotels and monuments in person.
Next on our stop was Utah which was my favorite stop of the entire trip. We spent the night in Provo and it was a relatively chill night. Can I just say I think Utah is the most underrated state, ever?! And I didn’t even get to see it when it was covered in snow! It was absolutely beautiful although surprisingly super hot. After our stay we headed out towards Park City which, was out of the way, but worth it! The whole time I was there I just couldn’t help but imagine it all covered in snow for the winter!
Our first stop on the way up to Park City was at Bridal veil falls. Edwin and I took a short little hike up until we got to the falls which I got zero pictures of (but keep an eye out on my YouTube Channel as I did vlog the entire trip!). It was breathtaking and I loved how many families were out hiking with their dogs and kids and seeing an environment that was so different from what I’d seen my whole life was refreshing.
After our short stop in Bridal Veil Falls we headed over to Park City. It was an adorable little mountain village - the kind you imagine a Hallmark Christmas movie would be set in. It had tons of little shops and places to eat and all of the buildings were different colors. I took a few photos on my polaroid but OF COURSE I still had to black and white film in there so you couldn’t even see all the different colors. Fail. However, we did end up taking the ski lift they had in town all the way up the mountain and saw all the different Olympic slopes. It was so pretty so see it while it was all green but I definitely want to take a trip back here once it snows!
After Utah, we continued East! Our original plan was to travel through Colorado and end up in Denver but we ended up traveling through the lower half of Wyoming. While we didn’t stop, the drive through Wyoming was thoroughly enjoyable! Personally, I love gloomy, rainy days and it also happened to be super overcast while we drove through. We ended up spending that night in Ft. Collins, Colorado and headed out towards Omaha the next morning.
In Omaha, we met up with my friend Emily - my roommate during my Disney College Program! We had a really nice little dinner before turning in for the night. After Omaha, we drove straight through Iowa and finally made it to Chicago, Illinois!
Driving across the country was such an awesome, tiring, educational, emotional experience that I’m so glad Edwin and I got to experience together. I’m excited for all the cool experiences to come. I’m excited for us to start our lives together. I can’t wait to share it all with you! Thanks for reading guys and I will see you all in the next post.
